Meme!
Fandom Meme:

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

I swipped this off of malicehaughtonand she gave me these fandoms:

Doctor Who, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Thor.

Doctor Who

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?  I stumbled across an episode from Series 1 while on a trip.  Thought it was cool and started to look for the series.  Eventually found them a couple of years later once I remembered the name of the show.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?  I'm definitely staying with this fandom.  It's the first sci-fi fandom that I found on my own and am loving it!
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?  I can't decide.  I know not like any episodes with Rose in them - well, except "The End of the World".  I mostly enjoy Series 4 with Donna.  Those were the best episodes.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?  I mainly stay with the fanfic, but I do participate in discussions whenever it is a good topic.  People tend to not like it when I talk bad about Rose.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?  Absolutely!  It's changing and changes can be good.  It just depends on the person.  And if you like history, this is the show for you!

Pirates of the Caribbean

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?  I got into the fandom after watching The Curse of the Black Pearl.  After watching the movie, all these ideas came into my mind and that was it.
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?  I'm not into the fandom as I use to be.  I do write in it from time to time when I get a good idea.  But I do still participate from time to time.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?  My favorite movie is The Curse of the Black Pearl.
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?  I write and discuss.  It just depends on the topic and the prompt.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?  Yes!  Don't ask me to really explain, but if you like a good plot and fantastic characters, watch the film!

Thor

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?  I have to put this on ithildyn.  I wasn't going to watch the film, but after hearing her rave about it I decided to check it out.  And I was hooked!
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?  Don't know yet.  It just depends on how the films go.
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?  Since it's only the one film, it has to be Thor!
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?  Just discussions right now.  I haven't really thought on a good plot yet.
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?  It's part of a big series.  People can love one but not the other, but have to understand that they all interconnect.  Can't love one without the other!

Nice explanations here! :) My sister was a massive fan of the Deppster when the first film came out and must have watched it about seven or eight times (not all at the cinema though). Everyone should love the Whoniverse, honestly, it's a nice warm place for fandom.

Ifyou enjoyed the Thor film and you at all curious about the comics you might want to consider reading the modern take on Marvel's Thor by J Michael Straczynski. Whilst there are some significant differences (Jane Foster is a Nurse in the comics as opposed to a scientist) I reckon you'd find it pretty accessable! :)

Anyway quite like to try this myself so the fandoms I'm happy talking about:

- Doctor Who/Whoniverse
- Marvel Comics or Movies (Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Hulk, X-Men)
- Batman (Comics or Movies)
- Star Wars (Originals/Prequels)
- Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager)
- LOST
- Dragonball (Z)
- X-Files
- 24

Ok...

Doctor Who/Whoniverse, Star Wars (both), and Marvel (both).

I'll have to check the comics out. I heard they were good, but I just got to get my head warped around it. Comics tend to confuse me, though I don't know why.

Oh good, can say a lot about those. :)

The comics are usually good, though there are some stinkers here and there. And they're probably confusing because they can be a. Dated, b. Different from what you remember the movies being like, c. Possibly a tad youngish or d. Might have a ton of continuity to know about.

I'd say the best stories of Marvel, DC or anything else are ones which are nicely self-contained or work on their own. Iron Man's Demon In A Bottle, Batman's The Long Halloween, X-Men's God Loves, Man Kills or Spider-Man's Kraven's Last Hunt are but a few examples.

How about...

Stargate: Atlantis, Hawaii 5-0, and The Lord of the Rings.

Nice answers!

I don't think I'll play again. My brain fried on three of my main fandoms lol.
