"Avengers" Review (after first viewing)
Okay, this movie was sooooo made of win that I can't wait to see it again!

Let's see...

The beginning of the movie was good.  Especially seeing Samuel L. Jackson in action (oh dear, that rhymes!).  And Cobie Smulders as Maria?  Also epic!  And of course, Loki is as awesome as ever!  He is definitely much more darker than he was in Thor.

It was really interesting on how the team got together.  The bickering among them as well as the distrust was so real.  It made you wonder if they were ever going to get their acts together and get along.  But I really hated it when the thing that brought them together was Coulson's death.

Which brings up this - why Coulson?  I love the guy and I almost cried when Loki skewered him with the spear (the one time I did not like Loki).  I think that is the one thing I will hate Wheldon for.  Phil will forever be alive in my canon.  Hm...maybe I should make him Immortal?

The special effects were awesome.  It made the plot move.  I have never been so impressed with special effects before.

And is it just me, or does the leader of the Chitauri look like a mutated form of Red Skull?  Or Hellboy?  What do you think?

We all think Coulson is alive, for various reasons. For one, they called it way too quick. I think Fury lied to motivate them, like with the cards.

On the other hand, he was the top of the 'who will Joss kill pool' at my house.

That what I was thinking the second time I watched it. And I did remember reading Clark Gregg saying something about negotiating to be in Iron Man 3. And just like the Doctor, Fury always lies ;)

-puts on comic book geek hat-

He's actually Thanos.

strangevisitor7 and I were in serious squee-glee over him and that little smirk.

ithildyn was going 'huh?'. We both turned to her and stated we'd explain later...

Gotcha ya. Read the article and it was very informative. Maybe Ith and I need to get a comic book tutorial...

I think it's too early to declare that Phil has moved to the afterlife. (I was nearly crying, too.)

Yes, of course, it would be typical for Joss to pull a stunt like that - especially with characters who are loved (that trick never seems to get old for him).
(Buffy, Angel and Firefly leave a bloody trail of loved characters. You are in a happy relationship, oups, you're dead. Always wondered if he wants to tell us something about his marriage in that way...)

But Coulson said it quite right, they needed an extra push and his death would be just the right thing - and Fury would be just the ass to tell them such a lie for the greater good.
I totally believe in Fury's ass-potential. Or I'm totally in denial.

But you never saw the paramedics taking care of him, never saw his body afterwards. And wasn't there somewhere a rumour about him in "Iron Man 3"?
Until "Iron Man 3" I'll be a non-believer.

You never did see the paramedics taking care of him. That's what makes me think that there is something less going on.

And Fury would lie for the "greater good".

I remember reading that rumor true. I think Clark Gregg was the one who said that he was in negotiation to be in the third "Iron Man".

We'll just have to wait and see.
